Dublin-based engineering company Winthrop Technologies is considering selling, The Sunday Times reports.
The company, which works on data center projects across Europe, is valued at well in excess of €250 million ($265m), the paper claims.
Winthrop began as a traditional mechanical & electrical contractor across the datacenter, commercial, pharmaceutical, and industrial sectors, but now primarily specializes in mission critical projects and turnkey data center solutions.
It says that it is currently constructing multiple turnkey data center projects in nine different European countries, equating to over 300MW of IT load in flight. The company was previously known as Winthrop Engineering and Contracting.
Majority-owned by founder Barry English, the company turned to PwC in early 2021 to advise on a potential sale. But, at the time, it decided on equity-release refinancing.
Now, it is reviving those plans, and has hired investment bank Rothschild to help.
A formal sale process could begin in early 2023, with several parties already believed to have expressed an interest.
