3D IoT lidar solutions for smart cities unveiled at CES 2022

Quanergy Systems has introduced a suite of 3D internet of things (IoT) lidar technologies for smart cities at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022, which is taking place in Las Vegas this week.

Its solutions are being used for smart mobility, retail flow management analytics, building occupancy management, and perimeter intrusion detection.

Mission critical applications

Quanergy will demonstrate its 100 per cent solid-state CMOS lidar sensor, designed to enable the mass production of low-cost 3D lidar solutions.

“Quanergy’s 3D lidar flow management solutions are disrupting the IoT market by providing the accurate real-time data needed by mission critical applications to automate the next best action and enhance people lives and safety,” said Kevin Kennedy, CEO at Quanergy.

In smart mobility, Quanergy has teamed with iCent, Keti and Ekos, to enable smart navigation for electronic vehicle (EV) charging robots, which, according to the partners, plays a critical role in building transportation infrastructure for smart cities.

The company is also showcasing Qortex people counting which will monitor and control occupancy limits in conference rooms. Quanergy claims the solution offers unmatched accuracy of detection for a wide range of people traffic patterns both indoor and outdoor while protecting individual privacy.

For its retail flow management analytics, it is partnering with Digital Mortar and will feature a live demonstration, monitoring and analysing visitor journeys, including the flow of entrance and departure, and dwell time at certain stations.

This real-time data aims to provide insight for retailers to optimise shopper experience and increase revenues, while providing, claims Quanergy, zero personally identifiable information risk.

In addition, Quanergy is featuring a demo of a security solution that enables real-time analysis for detection, tracking, and classification of intruders. According to the company, the integrated MQ-8 and Qortex DTC platform provides native integration with major video management systems to create a solution that enables prompt responses to security breaches, while reducing costly false alarms.

Finally, in partnership with Securitas, Quanergy’s mobile surveillance solution with integrated 3D lidar can be deployed anywhere to ensure security of remote sites with limited infrastructure.

Quanergy Systems is a provider of OPA-based solid-state lidar sensors and smart 3D solutions for automotive and IoT. Through its solutions, the company claims, businesses can leverage real-time, advanced 3D insights to transform their operations in a variety of industries including industrial automation, physical security, smart cities, and smart spaces.
